Bold and hardy, Hjort (HYORT) are known as skilled warriors, metallurgists, and technologists. Though they often stand well under 5 feet tall, Hjort are so broad and compact that they can weigh as much as an [[Arctander]] standing nearly two feet taller. Their courage and endurance are also easily a match for any of the larger folk.

Their hair, often worn long but in simple styles, is usually black, gray, or brown, though paler Hjort often have red hair. Most Hjort stand between 4 1/2 and 5 1/2 feet tall and average about 150-200 pounds.

**Hjort Resilience.** Hjort have Resistance to Poison damage. They also have Advantage on saving throws they make to avoid or end the Poisoned condition.
**Hjort Toughness.** A Hjort's Hit Point maximum increases by 1, and it increases by 1 again whenever they gain a level.
**Stonecunning.** As a Bonus Action, Hjort gain Tremorsense with a range of 60 feet for 10 minutes. They must be on a stone surface or touching a stone surface to use this Tremorsense. The stone can be natural or worked. They can use this Bonus Action a number of times equal to their Proficiency Bonus, and they regain all expended uses when they finish a Long Rest.
# History
The Hjort were said to have been raised from the stone and soil of Mobius in the ancient days by a deity of the underground. Hjort have a deep affinity for stone and metal and for living underground. The first settlements of Hjort were built in hills or mountains, and eventually grew into some of the first great cities on Mobius--massive civilizations carved into the sides of mountains.
Ancient Hjort kingdoms also stretched deep beneath the mountains where the Hjort mined gems and precious metals and forged items of wonder.
# Society
Hjort are solid and enduring like the mountains they love, weathering the passage of centuries with stoic endurance and little change. They respect the traditions of their clans, tracing their ancestry back to the founding of their most ancient strongholds in the youth of the world, and don’t abandon those traditions lightly. Part of those traditions is devotion to the science of metallurgy, the Hjort ideals of industrious labor, skill in battle, and devotion to their craft of weapon smithing. They love the beauty and artistry of precious metals and fine minerals.
The chief unit of Hjort society is the clan, and Hjort highly value social standing. Even Hjort who live far from their original kingdoms cherish their clan identities and affiliations, recognize related Hjort, and invoke their ancestors’ names in oaths and curses.
